Well now, how to describe this little 30 seconds of Syndicate Gold??....
It's a cold winter's day @ Carlisle and a new race series for mares has just come in time for Our Valentina ..Placed to perfection by Stuart (he occasionally gets these things right...), RV took to the track as favourite and under a gritty ride by JJ Slevin, prevailed from Paper Roses.
A highlight for the Horsplay Syndicate and in all seriousness a wonderful training performance by SRB Crawford!

OK, so it's OK to say it quietly, but even the hardiest of Syndicate fans may have struggled to believe that after leaving the parade ring at Kelso Racecourse to make her handicap debut on heavy ground, Maimie's Magic would be unsaddled next in the Winners Enclosure

After a couple of near misses, you'll know from being a well behaved reader (already having read the poem written to mark the occasion on her own page), RV, hits the target in dramatic style.
Given a genuinely inspired ride by future Gold Cup winning jockey Paul Townend, we still find it worth watching the finish every so often just to make sure she still wins as it doesn't ever look like that likely until 20 yards from the line!

This was a good day....Leon Og (as you will know after reading the epic poem that is "Ode to the Og") took things to another level this day @ Fairyhouse with a genuinely impressive win over a quality field. Always travelling well, he put things to bed in a matter of strides and it's a video we really don't tire of viewing!
Showing he was able to stay a strongly run 3 miles at a Grade One track and being eased in the closing stages we were excited syndicators!

Buy whoever said 'Third times a charm" half a pint of Guinness, as on racecourse visit #3, Leon Og after being beaten a total of 87 lengths on his previous 2 outings, quite literally took a huge leap forward and won his maiden hurdle under Roger Loughran with comparative ease.
Always travelling well, he moved through the field from 6 furlongs out and after nipping over the last 2 hurdles came home in his own space by a comfy 6 lengths....A win that again showed the benefit of patience and trust in letting horses ease into their racing careers. So well done Des! (Full race available to watch for free on attheraces.com!)
The jumping season is often seen as a winter game but alongside the Galway Festival in August, the Midlands National at Kilbeggan is very much the highlight of the Summer National Hunt Calender.
With Dessie having such a good record at the track and Trotsky being allocated a very favourable handicap mark, the scene was set for a memorable triumph! Ridden by Paddy Flood, Trotsky again put in a great round of jumping, but nearly decided he'd done enough a little too soon....! Thankfully he kept enough steam in his engine for the win though and life was good!.
So what do you get if you cross possibly the most gifted jockey in National Hunt History with a horse who needed careful steering but could jump for fun?
Answer: A maiden victory for the Horsplay Syndicate! Here Ruby Walsh let's Trotsky jump his way merrily through the race and when he finds he has a tail swisher on his hands, simply cajoles him to the finishing line without drama. A lovely ride and very exciting for all concerned as Trotsky clearly enjoyed the challenge of bigger obstacles, although he certainly did things his own way in the closing stages!
RV ready to pop!
